The glovebox rechargeable flashlight receptacle in my car (2003 E39) is switched and de-energized when the ignition is off. Your car should be no different. I suggest you purchase the BMW Aux Power adapter that plugs into this receptacle. There is a cigarette lighter receptacle on the end of this adapter so you can plug auto accessories into it.
